Let the Games begin

It was great to have some of the group together this past weekend.  Looks as though the first weekend in January that EVERYONE, will be up at the Bear River Lodge together.

This past Sunday was a bit cold but Dave, Bridget, Lisa and I found some good runs of the North Peak Chair early in the afternoon. Nate's outfit from circa 1993 was pretty inspiring and prompted the idea of a throwback ski gear party by Mr. Murdoch.

Monday had spring skiing like conditions.  Monday Morning's Race Course was the trail of the day with Obsession coming in a close second. Though the warm weather loosened up Sundays icy trails it was a little worrisome leaving the mountain hearing the evident dripping sound everywhere you turned.  Thankfully a few days later the River got a half a foot of fresh stuff...

First Tracks of the Season

Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you all know that Bridget and I went up to the house this week and everything looks great.  We skied about 10 runs on Tuesday at Sunday River.  The coverage on the mountain is good and it was nice to get back on the skis and get some turns in.  Bear river Lodge is wonderful and we're going to have a great time this winter.  We put together a list of some things we thought would be good to have at the BRL.  Comment back if you have any of these already or can pick them up:

Paper Towels, Toilet Paper, Trash Bags, Sugar, Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate. Games (Board or Electronic), DVDs, Hand Soap, Dish Soap, Hooks for Fence next to Hot Tub, Boombox or Speakers with AUX hookup for MPR player, Shoe Mat, Linens (if you want your own), Plastic Drawers (to keep some clothes at the house), Fleece Blankets, Jacuzzi Cleaner, Snow Shovel, Table Salt, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Fluff, Ketchup, Mayo, Mustard, Relish, Maple Syrup, Butter, Clothes Rack or Coat Rack for drying wet gear...

I know Cathy and Dave already picked a few of these things up. We'll be back up on the 13th for likely the last time in December.  Hopefully most if not all of us can be up there that weekend. There is a combination box with a key in it at the house.  I will be making extra copies of the key for each of us...

I'll be heading up that weekend as well. I hope our chefs-in-residence, D-Roc and Dennis, will be there to prepare us a feast...

Let It Snow!!

The Bear River Lodge will be in full effect in less than a week! We're waiting to hear about getting in on November 30th but regardless Bridget and I will be heading up to the house on Dec 1st to check things out and make a list of things we might need for the winter.

It is snowing at Sunday River right now and the 10 day forecast calls for snow all through the weekend.  It seems like December will be crazy for everyone but feel free to comment on when you'll be heading up to the house.  Bridget and I will be going up the weekend of the 13th. Is anyone else going up that weekend?  Let me know...Bri

SNOWMAKING BEGINS @ THE RIVER!!!

Sunday River began to make snow and plan on opening on November 7th.  This is much earlier than seasons past but with new snowmaking guns and what looks to be a colder than normal winter, we could be skiing in less than a month!  Don't forget that Sunday November 2nd we will be meeting at the Gravel's house to go over all the stuff for the Bear River Lodge this winter.  See you then...

Hike this Sunday?!?!

Anyone up for a hike this Sunday.  A couple of us were talking about the Lafyette loop in the White Mountains or part of the Long Trail in VT.  Here is a pic from Acadia two weeks ago for some motivation!

Welcome & How to Use the ORGE Blog

Hey guys...I've created this blog so we can easily share info, pictures and other things for ORGE and our Bear River Lodge group.  Murdoch previously started a face book page which is similar to what this blog will do.  The fun thing about having this blog is that you can subscribe to it using an RSS feed which makes it easy to use, update and check out.  The RSS feed works by clicking the "subscribe to post" option.  This link will bring you to an xml page (blue and white) in which the column on the right hand side has the option to subscribe in mail.  If you are using iMail or Outlook then you'll see our blog pop up under your RSS feed section.  If you need help just email me and I'll walk you through it but once you get set up I think you'll find it to be very easy.  Hope you enjoy using this....Brian
